Announcement from The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest

Thailand's Stickerless E-Visa System will be launched on 1 November 2022.

 

- As from 1 November 2022, application for a Thai visa can be conveniently submitted through our new online e-Visa platform at  http://thaievisa.go.th

-Applicants are no longer required to submit their passports and original supporting documents either in person or by post to the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest.

 -In submitting the e-application, please provide accurate information, especially the spelling of names, e-mail address and passport numbers as the said information cannot be changed once it is submitted. Also take note that payments for the visas are non-refundable.

-After the e-Visa application is approved, confirmation e-mails will be sent to the applicants. You are then requested to print a copy of that confirmation e-mail for presenting to the airlines and the Thai immigration officials to check when arriving in Thailand. 

-Please apply in advance and allow 5-15 working days for the Embassy to process your application. Please allow time for officers to request further documents, interviews if necessary.

Please read and follow instructions carefully before submitting process your E-Visa application

 

  1. The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest issues e-visas to applicants from

            - Hungary

            - Croatia

            - Bosnia and Herzegovina

            - Montenegro

            - Kosovo

Visa applications submitted by nationals of any other countries will only be accepted to process if the Applicant has a valid residence permit and/or an officially registered address in any of the countries indicated above. The official document of the registered address (e.g. an “Address Card”) must be presented, and a photocopy of it must be enclosed to the completed E-Visa Application Form.

  1. Please be advised to make your appointment at least 10-15 days in advance before your departure date
  2. E-Visa Procedure is 5-10 WORKING days. Failing to provide all the documents or data required for the visa application might prolong thre visa application process.
  3. All documents MUST BE IN ENGLISH only, (or, alternatively, in Thai language, when applicable) including copies of flight and hotel reservations, bank documents, letters of authorization, declarations, statements, etc.
  4. Passport valid at least 6 months after the expected date of entry into Thailand.
  5. The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to reject any application.
  6. The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents.
  7. Submitting a forged document will be refused and banned for future submission
  8. The Royal Thai Embassy has not authorized any agencies or travel agents to process Thai visas.
  9. All visa fee payments in case only must be paid directly to the E-Visa system.
  10. Visa fees cannot be refunded in any case.
  11. Flight number: in the case of multiple, connecting flights, the flight number of the last flight landing in Thailand must be indicated.

 

Type of Visas and Application Fees

 

  1. TRANSIT VISA (TS)

This type of visa is issued to persons who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes:

-To travel in immediate and continuous transit through the Kingdom en route to another country or to travel back to his/her own country over Thailand (category "TS").

-To participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.) (category "S").

-The person in charge or crew of a conveyance coming to a port, station or area in the Kingdom (category "C").

-Transit flight longer than 12 hours.

-Holder of transit visa will be allowed to stay in Thailand for 30 days without extension. Applicant is not permitted to engage in any occupation or employment. A confirmed ticket for onward destination must be shown to the officer at the port of entry.

-Application fee: 30 euro per entry (non refundable).

 

  1. TOURIST VISA (TR)

-TR Visa is valid for a single entry into Thailand for tourism purposes only.

-TR Visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 3-month period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 60 days, counting from the date of entry.

-Extension is possible for another 30 days, with maximum period of stay of 90 days, counting from the date of entry.

-If the TR Visa holder breaches the entry conditions (for example, if he/she engages in work-related activities), the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

-Application fee: 35 Euro (non refundable).

 

For minor under 20 years old, please provide the following documents

– Copy of a birth certificate.

– Copy of marriage certificate, In case of sole custody notarized copy of the court order, must be provided.

– Copy of passports or ID of mother and father/ legal guardian.

– Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/ legal guardian.

MULTIPLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA (METV)

From 13 November 2015, the Royal Thai Government has put into effect this new visa category. It is available to tourists of all nationalities who have residence permit in Hungary. The visa validity will be 6 months and the passport holder will be allowed to stay in Thailand up to 60 days per visit. The visa fee is 175 euro (non refunable). The double and triple entry tourist visa will be no longer available.

For minor under 20 years old, please provide the following documents

– Copy of a birth certificate.

– Copy of marriage certificate, In case of sole custody notarized copy of the court order, must be provided.

– Copy of passports or ID of mother and father/ legal guardian.

– Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/ legal guardian.

***All supporting materials that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations only ***

 

  1. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes:

  1. Work in Thai companies or be on paid internship
  2. Work in Thai educational institutions
  3. Conduct business, e.g. short-term business visit upon invitation by Thai business counterparts
  4. Invest in Thailand (through ownership of condominium, deposit in a Thai bank, or Thai government bond, with face value not less than 3 million THB).

Holder of non-immigrant visa will be allowed to stay in Thailand for 90 days without extension. Applicant must submit an official letter from a Thai/Hungarian company specifying purpose of visit.

Basic information:

-Passport valid at least 6 months after the expected date of entry into Thailand.

-Residence permit.

-Proof of employment.

-Proof of a round trip flight confirmation/reservation showing going to Thailand and leaving from Thailand (The name of the applicant must be indicated clearly).

-Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. accommodation booking reservation, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand (The name of the applicant must be indicated clearly).

Application fee: 70 euro per entry, multiple entry visa: 175 euro (non refundable).

 

For minor under 20 years old, please provide the following documents

– Copy of a birth certificate.

– Copy of marriage certificate, In case of sole custody notarized copy of the court order, must be provided.

– Copy of passports or ID of mother and father/ legal guardian.

– Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/ legal guardian.

The requirements are in accordance with the regulation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

 

3.1 NON-IMMIGRANT B

-NON-IMMIGRANT B Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.

-Extension of visa is possible. Those qualified may obtain an additional one-year stay permit, counting from the date of entry to Thailand. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Extension application can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit www.immigration.go.th for more information).

-If the B Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

To work in private companies (employment)

Requirements:

-Letter confirming employment details from an employer in Thailand signed by authorized person (or employment contract between the applicant and the company qualified to employ foreigners in Thailand, indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications (the contract must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed with the company's seal)

-A copy of ID card or passport of the signer (authorized person who signed the employment letter)

-WP3 (An approval letter from the Ministry of Labour) In case that visa applicant is currently working in a company in Thailand and need to renew Non-B visa, a work permit will be required instead of WP3.

*Japanese is waived from the requirement to submit WP3 / Alternatively, letter of approval from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) can be submitted.

-Original letter from the company addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, requesting for a visa, specifying name, position, period of employment, salary, education, and job experience of the applicant [may be required].

-Proof of education and work experience of the applicant [may be required].

-Business registration and business license of the hiring company in Thailand / proof of company certificate in Thailand must be certified by the Registrar within the previous 6 months.

-Company profile or details for business operation.

-Business registration and business license.

-List of shareholders.

-Company profile.

-Details of business operation.

-List of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions.

-Map indicating location of the company.

-Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30 of the latest year).

-Value-added tax registration (Por Por 20).

-Document indicating the number of foreign tourists (for tourism business only), or documents indicating export transactions issued by banks (for export business only).

Remarks: only single-entry visa will be granted to the applicant. Upon arrival in the Kingdom, he/she must apply for a working permit (if he/she does not already have it) at the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.

 

 

To invest in a BOI-registered company/Working in a BOI-registered company

Requirements:

-Letter confirming employment details from an employer.

-Letter from BOI.

-To be on a paid internship in private companies.

-Business registration and business license of the company in Thailand.

-Letter confirming the internship/participation from the company.

 

To work in private educational institution / school

Requirements:

-Academic qualification certificate.

-Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education.

-Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of residence.

-Letter confirming employment details from schools/universities signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer (or employment contract between the applicant and the qualified private educational institution / school, indicating details of position, salary, and the employment term).

-School/university’s registration or license to establish an educational institution issued by the Private Education Commission / governmental competent authority.

-Letter from a company addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, requesting for a visa specifying name, position, period of employment, salary, education, and job experience of the applicant [may be required].

-Recommendation from the former employer on the applicant’s teaching experiences in Hungary (or other countries) [may be required].

Remarks: only single-entry visa will be granted to the applicant. Upon arrival in the Kingdom, he/she must apply for a working permit (if he/she does not already have it) at the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.

 

To conduct Business in Thailand (for example, a short business trip, to attend meeting, exhibitions, etc.)

Requirements:

-A copy of ID card or passport of the signer (authorized person who signed the employment letter).

-Letter confirming employment details from an employer in the country of origin signed by authorized person stating that the company will dispatch the employee to Thailand on which purpose.

-If self-employed, proof of financial evidence and corporate documents are required (bank statement, annual tax invoice, etc.).

-Invitation letter from a company in Thailand addressed to the applicant or the applicant's company, indicating the purpose and period of the invited visit. The company must have a registered capital not less than 2 million THB.

-Business license of the inviting company in Thailand with the company’s stamp and authorized person’s signature / proof of company certificate in Thailand must be certified by the Registrar within the previous 6 months.

-Letter from the company in Thailand addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, requesting for a visa, stating the objective and intended period of the applicant’s visit to Thailand [may be required].

-value-added tax registration (Por Por 20).

 

To invest in Thailand with ownership of condominium, deposit in a Thai bank, or Thai government bond, with face value not less than 3 million THB may also apply for this type of visa (as from 9 October 2020).

Requirements:

-Evidence showing ownership of a condominium, deposit in a Thai bank, Thai government bond, with face value not less than 3 million THB.

Other documents as may be required by consular officers.

Pay application fee online: 70 Euro (single entry, non-refundable).

 

  • NON-IMMIGRANT ED

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the following purposes:

-To study in academic institutes.

-To visit on a study trip or observation tour, participate in projects or seminars, attend a conference or training course organized by the government agency, state enterprise, international organization, Embassy and Consulate.

-To study as a foreign Buddhist monk.

-NON-IMMIGRATION ED Visa is valid for a single entry for education purposes only.

-ED Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.

-Extension of visa is possible. Those qualified may obtain an additional one-year stay permit, counting from the date of entry to Thailand. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Extension application can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit www.immigration.go.th for more information).

-If the ED Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

To study in a basic education level (primary, elementary, and secondary school

Requirements:

-Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education.

-Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer.

-School’s registration certificate or license to establish an educational institute issued by the competent authority or Private Education Commission.

-Letter from the institute addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest [may be required].

 

To study in a short course (Thai or English language)

Requirements:

-Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education.

-Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer.

-School’s registration certificate or license to establish an educational institute issued by the competent authority or Private Education Commission.

 

To study in a higher education level (university and college).

Requirements:

-Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer.

-Academic certificate from previous education level.

-University’s registration certificate or license to establish an educational institute issued by the competent authority or Private Education Commission.

-Letter from the institute addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest [may be required].

 

To undertake curricular internship (part of educational programme)

Requirements:

-Letter confirming the curricular internship from the visa applicant’s university/educational institute.

-Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the company/international organization.

-To attend workshop training or seminar organized by International Organization.

-Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the international organization.

-Proof of current employment [may be required].

Pay application fee online: 70 Euro (single entry, non-refundable).

 

  • NON-IMMIGRANT O

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the following purposes:

-To stay after retirement for the elderly (aged 50 years or above).

-To stay with the family (spouse, children, adopted child).

-To receive medical treatment.

-To perform duties for the state enterprise or volunteer with social welfare organizations.

-To be a sport coach as required by Thai Government.

-To be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.

-To visit Thailand (applicable to only those who ever hold Thai nationality before).

-NON-IMMIGRANT O Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.

-Extension of visa is possible. Those qualified may obtain an additional one-year stay permit, counting from the date of entry to Thailand. For retirees aged 50 and over ("O" Retirement)

Requirements:

-Pension notification with a monthly net amount of not less than €1,000 per month for single entry. If other forms of monthly income, e.g. interest earning or dividends, are submitted instead of pension payment, the applicant must also provide proof of their retirement status.

-If the pension is lower than required, a copy of bankbook with the remaining balance of at least €5,000.

-Health insurance policy document for the entire intended period of stay in Thailand with the following coverage:

-Outpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 40,000 THB or 1,300 EUR, and

Inpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 400,000 THB or 13,000 EUR.

 

For those who need to stay with family residing or working in Thailand

Requirements:

-Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party (20,000 THB per person and 40,000 THB per family)

-Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand.

-Personal datails of a family in Thailand, e.g. ID card, Passport and the visa page or stay permit in Thailand.

In case the family member is non-Thai: copy of the visa or work permit of a spouse, parent, or child who is currently residing or working in Thailand.

In case the family member is Thai: proof of Thai nationality of family member (copy of passport, ID card or household registration certificate).

Proof of family relationship, e.g. copy of marriage certificate or birth certificate, registration of legitimate child, household registration certificate, adoption certificate, or other evidence issued by the competent authorities or government agency.

Additional document required for those who are married to Thai nationals: proof of income, either party or both must have a total income of not less than 1,000 EUR per month. If the non-Thai national does not have the said minimum income, he/she must provide proof of an account deposit in Thailand in the name of either party or both of not less than 400,000 THB for the previous 3 months.

 

For those who will receive medical treatment or look after a patient

Requirements:

-Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party (20,000 THB per person and 40,000 THB per family).

-Letter of appointment from hospital/medical center.

-Copy of hospital/medical center registration certificate.

-In case of looking after a patient, confirmation and request has been made by the physician responsible for the treatment.

 

For those who perform duties for the state enterprise or volunteer (unpaid) with social welfare organizations

Requirements:

Letter confirming voluntary work signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the sign.

Registration license of NGO/Charity/Association issued by competent authority.

Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 THB per person and 40,000 THB per family).

Proof of the applicant’s education and work experience.

 

For those who will be a contestant or witness for the judicial process

Requirements:

-Proof of involvement in litigation or judicial proceedings as complainant, the aggrieved party, accused, plaintiff, defendant / Confirmation letter from the inquiry officer in charge of the case or official letter or document from the authority concerned indicating that the applicant is involved in a case judicial proceeding.

-Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party (20,000 THB per person and 40,000 THB per family).

-Travel booking confirmation.

 

For Thai nationals who have denounced Thai citizenship

Requirements:

-Travel booking confirmation.

-Proof of past Thai citizenship.

-Pay application fee: 70 Euro (single entry, non-refundable) / 175 Euro (multiple entry, non-refundable).

 

    3.4 NON-IMMIGRANT O-A (LONG STAY)

-Applicant must be 50 years old or over (on the day of submitting the application).

-Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality or residence.

-Having the nationality of or residence in the country where applicant’s application is submitted.

-Not having prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535

-Having adequate health insurance for the entire period of stay in Thailand, covering treatment of general illnesses, including treatment of COVID-19, with a sum insured of not less than 100,000 USD or 3,000,000 THB (new requirement as of 1 October 2021).

-Holder of O-A (Long Stay) Visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for one year.

-Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.

-Spouses of holders of O-A (Long Stay) Visa will be considered for temporary stay under Category ‘O’ Visa if they do not qualify to apply for the O-A (Long Stay) Visa themselves. A duly notarized marriage certificate must be provided as evidence.

-If the O-A (Long Stay) Visa holder breaches the entry conditions (for example, if he/she engages in work-related activities), the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

Requirements:

-Medical certificate, issued from the country where the application is submitted, showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E. 2535) (certificate shall be valid for not more than 3 (three) months and if Medical Certificate is not issued from state hospital, it has to be legalized from Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

-Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality or the country where the application is submitted (verification shall be valid for not more than three months and must be duly notarized).

-Bank Statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 THB or an original payslip with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 THB, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totally not less than 800,000 THB. In case of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required.

-Proof of the permanent residence in the country where the application is submitted.

-Health insurance policy document issued by a Thai or foreign insurance company stating that the applicant is medically insured for general illnesses, including COVID-19, with the insured sum of not less than 100,000 USD or 3,000,000 THB / A list of Thai insurance companies participating in the scheme can be found here: https://longstay.tgia.org.

-Foreign Insurance Certificate as stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and Health Insurance of Thailand, which must be completed, signed and stamped by the insurance company. The form can be downloaded from https://longstay.tgia.org/document/foreign_insurance_certificate.pdf

-Resume

For minor under 20 years old, please provide the following documents

  1. DIPLOMATIC VISA D and F

-Diplomatic "D" Visa is for holders of diplomatic passports or red UNLP who are posted to Thailand.

-Diplomatic "F" Visa is for holders of diplomatic passports or red UNLP who are sent on a short-term mission to Thailand.

-Diplomatic Visas are granted without a fee (gratis).

 

Diplomatic Passport Requirements:

-A Note Verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the sending country (or the Embassy at which the applicant is current serving) or the relevant international organizations addressed the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, requesting for the issuance of a visa, stating the applicant's name, the purpose of entry, duration, positions, etc.

-In case of posting, the Note Verbale should also mention the name and position of the Bangkok-based officer who will be succeeded by the applicant. If the position is a newly established position, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Bangkok-based embassy of the sending country must first submit a request for establishing the new position to the Thai Foreign Ministry in Bangkok.

-Official Visas are granted without a fee (gratis).

 

Official Passport Requirements:

-Official "F" Visa is for holders of official/service passports or blue UNLP who are posted to Thailand or are sent for a short-term official mission by their states or international organizations.

-A Note Verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the sending country (or the Embassy at which the applicant is current serving) or relevant international organisations addressed the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, requesting for the issuance of a visa, stating the applicant's name, the purpose of entry, positions, duration, etc. In case of posting, the Note Verbale should also mention the name and position of the Bangkok-based officer who will be succeeded by the applicant.

Short Transit to Other Destinations

Foreigners, who travel via Thailand to other destinations from the same port of entry, are allowed to transit without a visa. In this regard, the Thai Immigration Division is authorized to instruct the airlines or persons in charge of the transit to ensure that the transit passengers remain in a prescribed area. Should the transit passengers be forced for any reason to remain in the prescribed area for a period longer than expected, the Immigration Division may allow such passengers to do so under guarantees by the airlines or persons in charge of the transit.
