1. Tourist Visa Exemption

Passport holders from the following countries/territories are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 60 days on each visit. This stay can be extended once at an immigration office for an additional 30 days.

 

2. Visa on Arrival (VOA)

The Thailand Visa on Arrival (VOA) is a short-term visa available to passport holders from eligible countries. It allows you to enter Thailand without needing to secure a visa in advance and grants a stay of up to 15 days in the country, provided your visit is strictly for tourism.

 

3. Transit Visa (TS) (Category “S-TS-C”)

This visa is issued to applicants entering the Kingdom for the following purposes: transit (Category TS), participation in sports activities (Category S), or serving as a crew member or person in charge of a conveyance arriving at a Kingdom port or station (Category C).

The holder of a transit visa will be allowed to stay in Thailand for 30 days without extension. Applicants are not permitted to engage in any occupation or employment. A confirmed ticket for the onward destination must be shown to the officer at the port of entry.

 

4. Tourist Visa (TR)

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for tourism purposes only.

    4.1 Single Entry

    The Single-Entry Tourist Visa is perfect for travelers planning one visit to Thailand. It allows a stay of up to 60 days, with the option to extend by 30 days once in Thailand. Upon leaving Thailand, this visa expires, and you will need a new visa to re-enter.

    4.2 Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV)

    This visa is valid for six months, allowing the holder to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days per visit. This stay can be extended for an additional 30 days, permitting a total stay of up to 90 days per entry. You may re-enter the country as many times as you like within the visa’s validity period.

 

5. Non-Immigrant B Visa

This visa is issued to applicants entering the Kingdom for the following purposes: work in Thai companies or be on paid internship, work in Thai educational institutions, conduct business, or invest in Thailand.

 

6. Non-Immigrant ED Visa & Non-Immigrant ED Plus Visa

These types of visa is issued for foreigners studying in Thailand.

    6.1 Non-Immigrant ED Visa

    Non-Immigrant ED Visa is issued to applicants who wish to pursue their full-time education in private and public educational institutions in Thailand; internship and training in governmental organizations and international organizations; internship and training as part of an academic curriculum; or any other educational programmes in Thailand.

    6.2 Non-Immigrant ED Plus Visa

    Non-Immigrant ED PLUS Visa is issued to international students currently studying at universities/institutions in Thailand at a bachelor’s degree level or above. During the course of study, Non-ED PLUS Visa holders can depart and re-enter Thailand without the need for a re-entry permit. Universities/institutions will submit the visa extension application on behalf of the students. In addition, Non-ED PLUS Visa holders are allowed to extend their stay in Thailand for 1 year after graduation, to seek employment, travel or take part in other activities, and are eligible to change the type of visa in Thailand if employed.

 

7. Non-Immigrant O Visa

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the following purposes:

  • To stay after retirement for the elderly (aged 50 years or above).
  • To stay with the family (spouse, children, adopted child).
  • To receive medical treatment.
  • To perform duties for the state enterprise or volunteer with social welfare organizations.
  • To be a sport coach as required by the Thai Government.
  • To be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.
  • To visit Thailand (applicable to only those who ever hold Thai nationality before).

O Visa (Single Entry) is valid for 90 days (or Multiple Entry is valid for one year) from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration Officer. Extension applications can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit https://www.immigration.go.th/ for more information).

 

8. Non-Immigrant O-A Visa (Long Stay)

This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in  Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working. 

 

9. Non-immigrant O-X Visa (Long stay)

*Please note that this visa cannot be issued by the Royal Thai Embassy, Budapest.

The purpose of this type of visa is to promote long stay for foreign traveler to Thailand. Nationals from 14 countries with the age of 50 years old or over can apply for a multiple-entry Non O-X visa and stay in the Kingdom for the maximum period of 10 years (5 years according to visa validity plus an extension for another 5 years).

 

10. Non-Immigrant M Visa (Media)

This type of visa may be granted to applicants who wish to work as a film-producer, journalist, or reporter in Thailand. The Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

 

11. Non-immigrant F Visa (Government or diplomatic mission)

This visa is issued to applicants entering the Kingdom for the following purposes: to work with the government, a diplomatic mission, or an international organization; to attend meetings with Thai agencies or participate in government-organized events; or to accompany diplomatic officers based in Thailand as a family member or dependent.The visa is granted for a period of up to 90 days, which can be extended to one year.

 

12. Diplomatic D and F Visa

  • Diplomatic D Visa is for holders of diplomatic passports or red UNLP who are posted to Thailand.
  • Diplomatic F Visa is for holders of diplomatic passports or red UNLP who are sent on a short-term mission to Thailand.

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

For diplomatic passport holders and official passport holders who will be posted to Thailand, the extension of stay can be made through the Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

 

13. Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)

The DTV allows holders to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per entry and is valid for 5 years. The holders are prohibited from obtaining a Thai work permit and working for companies in Thailand or performing freelance work for Thai clients. 

To apply for a DTV, you must fall under one of the following three categories: 1. Workcation 2. Thai Soft Power Activities 3. Spouse and Dependent children of DTV holders

 

14. Long-term Resident (LTR) VISA

The LTR Visa comes in five types: 1. Wealthy Global Citizens 2. Wealthy Pensioners 3. Work-from-Thailand Professionals 4. Highly-Skilled Professionals 5. Spouses and Dependents of Long-Term Visa Holders

This Visa is 10 years renewable visa. Permission will be granted to stay in in Thailand the first time for no more than five years. The period of stay can be extended for another 5 years if qualifications are met.

 

15. Thailand Privilege Visa

The Thailand Privilege Visa (formerly Thailand Elite Visa) is a government-backed, long-term visa program (5–20+ years) allowing foreigners to reside in Thailand without 90-day reporting hassles.
