On 26 July 2016, the Thai cabinet approved the Royal Ordinance on Bringing Migrant Workers to Work with Employers in Thailand B.E.2559 (2016). It later entered into force on 16 August 2016. The law aims to regulate the conduct of business of bringing migrant workers to work in Thailand. This will help improve Thailand's management of recruitment agencies and to prevent migrant workers from being exploited and prevent trafficking in persons, debt bondage and forced labour, as well as promote the rights and benefits of migrant workers.
