The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest, in collaboration with Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel, organised the Thai Gastro Week from 30 August to 7 September 2025. The opening ceremony of the Thai Gastro Week was held on 29 August 2025 to showcase the special Thai dishes offered at the White Salon restaurant in the hotel during the Thai Gastro Week to the distinguished guests and local media.
The special selection of Thai dishes was prepared by Chef Chang, Mr. Kroongtana Nimnu, a chef from Thailand. The special Thai dishes included Tom Yum Kung, which was inscribed in 2024 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Massaman Curry, Pad Thai, Thai dumplings, and sticky rice with mango. In addition, traditional Thai dance performances from Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts accompanied the dining experience having guests experienced both the authentic taste of Thai cuisine and the lively cultural performances.
This year's Thai Gastro Week was the second of its kind in Hungary, following last year's event. It aimed to enhance awareness of Thailand among the Hungarian people and strengthen cultural ties through the promotion of Thai cuisine and culture.
