The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest organises Songkran Celebration at the Thai Residence

On 24 April 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest organised Songkran Celebration to celebrate Thai New Year at the Thai Residence. Approximately 50 people attended, including members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest (DSB), members of Hungarian government officials, representatives from private sector, and local media. Ambassador Phrommes Bhaholpolbhayuhasena gave the opening remarks emphasising the significance of the Songkran Festival and Thai New Year, as well as the activities that Thai people typically engage in during this festival, followed by the speech from Mrs. Vanida Bhaholpolbhayuhasena, Spouse of the Ambassador.
 
Activities at the event included pouring water to a Buddha statue, traditional Thai performances, Thai music, and demonstrations of handicrafts (making flower garlands, creating garlands from Pha Khao Ma, and crafting flowers from soap) by the Burapha Group, a Thai cultural performance troupe comprising of Thai youths from the cultural network of Burapha University, which is currently promoting Thai arts and culture in Europe, including Hungary, Moreover, there were Thai massage and Thai food provided. The event was very well-received by the participants and served as a broad visibility of important festivals of Thailand.
