On 20 February 2024, the Cabinet of Thailand approved the extension of visa exemption scheme for holders of ordinary passports (or travel document holders) of Kazakhstan to enter and stay within the Kingdom of Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days. The scheme will be effective from 1 March 2024 to 31 August 2024.

The interim measure is in accordance with the government's policy to boost tourism, aiming to boost the overall economy and income of people at local level as well as to promote people-to-people contacts between Thailand and Kazakhstan.
