On 13 September 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest organized the Thai Festival in Budapest 2026 at Sirály Sétány, in front of the MOMkult Cultural Center in Budapest.
H.E. Mr. Phrommes Bhaholpolbhayuhasena, Ambassador of Thailand to Hungary, presided over the opening ceremony. Before the opening speech, the master of ceremonies invited all participants to stand in silence to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, and to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador emphasized Thailand’s strategy to promote greater awareness and understanding of Thai culture among foreign audiences. In the case of Hungary, this is with an aim to increase people‑to‑people exchanges, strengthen mutual trust, and serve as a foundation for bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Hungary in all dimensions.
The Thai Festival in Budapest featured main stage performances including Khon masked dance and Thai classical dance by Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts; Muay Thai demonstrations by Muay Thai Academy (Hungary); a classical guitar concert by Mr. Hucky Eichelmann; A violin performance by Pongpairoj Lertsutwichai; quiz activities about Thailand; Thai cooking demonstrations; contemporary dance performances; Likay folk theatre; and a concert by Aoi Kathon.
In addition to the stage performances, the Thai Festival in Budapest included booths from well‑known Thai restaurants in Budapest (listed in order of booth placement from the front of the stage): Tom Yum, Pit Restobar, Rim Thanon, and Khao Niao Ping Kai. There were also booths from Thai President Foods and Dynamit Kft. presenting Mama instant noodles; a Thai massage booth by Urai Thai Massage; children’s activity booths organized by the Thai Students Association in Hungary and Under the Rainbow Nursey and Kindergarten.
Furthermore, there were trade promotion booths by the Office of Commercial Affairs in Budapest; tourism promotion booths by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Prague Office; and a booth promoting the Thai temple, Wat Thai Rattanaprateep.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest also organized a raffle booth at the event, with the first prize being a round‑trip air ticket Budapest–Bangkok sponsored by Turkish Airlines; the second and third prizes were gift vouchers from Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel; and special prizes from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Prague Office. Smaller prizes included Mama instant noodles from Thai President Foods and numerous souvenirs from Thailand.
Additionally, the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest set up a booth presenting Chud Thai Phra Rajaniyom, showcasing all the eight styles on mannequins. The booth also featured an AI Snap photo activity, allowing festival participants to take a selfie and have the programme generate an image of themselves wearing Thai traditional attire.
