On 1 May 2017, H.E. Mr. Jakkrit Srivali, Ambassador of Thailand to Hungary, gave opening remarks at the 2018 Thai Songkran Festival in Hungary and presented a donation of 35,000 Baht to the Thai Rattanaprateep Temple, which organized the event, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government. The Ambassador and Thai Embassy staff also joined members of the Thai community in prayers and merit-making, which is a customary part of celebrating the Thai New Year. Over 200 members of the Thai community in Hungary participated in the Songkran Festival.
