On 1 May 2017, H.E. Mr. Jakkrit Srivali, Ambassador of Thailand to Hungary delivered opening remarks at the 2017 Thai Songkran Festival in Hungary and  presented a donation of 200,000 Baht (approximately 5,200 Euros) to the Thai Temple on behalf of the Royal Thai Government.

                    The Ambassador and Thai Embassy staff also joined members of the Thai community in prayers and merit making, which is a customary part of celebrating the Thai New Year. Over 200 members of the Thai community in Hungary participated in the Songkran Festival.
